NUFLO MC-III Digital Totalizer and Transmitter

The MC Series* flow totalizers are designed as add-on accessories for turbine flowmeters or similar meters that generate pulses to indicate fluid quantity. These totalizers work by counting each pulse and then applying a scaling factor to offer the total accumulation of fluid and flow rate in the user's preferred units of measure, which can be volume, mass, or energy-based units.

MC-III Digital Totalizer and Transmitter consist of 3 types:

NUFLO MC-III EXP Flow Analyzer
The NUFLO MC-III EXP Explosion-Proof Flow Totalizer offers cutting-edge liquid and gas measurement capabilities with data logging and Modbus® communications, all in an easy-to-use explosion-proof design. This totalizer stands out by storing more flow logs and downloading them faster than any other flow analyzer currently available. It has the capacity to record up to 384 daily flow logs, 768 hourly logs, and 345 event logs, and it can download this data to your computer via Modbus in less than a minute.

Furthermore, the NUFLO MC-III EXP is now available as a stand-alone totalizer or as a complete Totalizer-and-Flow Meter system, certified for explosion-proof (CSA) or (ATEX/IECEx) applications. This makes it a versatile and robust solution for a wide range of industrial settings.

NUFLO MC-III Panel Mount Flow Analyzer
The NUFLO MC-III panel mount flow totalizer provides advanced liquid and gas measurement capabilities, along with data logging and Modbus® communications, all within an easy-to-use totalizer featuring a standard 1/4-DIN mount. This totalizer is equipped to record up to 384 daily flow logs, 768 hourly logs, and 345 event logs, making it a valuable addition to any flow measurement operation.

Users can easily configure the MC-III panel mount flow totalizer using the six-button keypad on the front of the instrument, which includes built-in shortcuts to common functions, thereby reducing on-site setup time. Additionally, the totalizer can be connected to a Turbine Meter or a pre-amplifier, and users have the option to select a 4 to 20 mA output, a pulse output, or an amplified flow meter frequency output, enabling remote equipment to calculate flow rates and volume.

NUFLO MC-III Weatherproof Flow Analyzer
The NUFLO MC-III WP weatherproof flow totalizer is a cutting-edge solution for liquid and gas measurement, featuring data logging and Modbus® communications in a user-friendly, weatherproof design. It offers substantial data logging capacity, allowing for the recording of up to 384 daily flow logs, 768 hourly logs, and 345 event logs, making it a valuable asset for flow measurement operations.

Configuring the totalizer is made simple through the six-button keypad located on the front of the instrument, with built-in shortcuts to common functions, thereby reducing on-site setup time. Furthermore, the totalizer can be connected to a turbine meter or preamplifier, offering users the flexibility to choose a 4 to 20 mA output, a pulse output, or an amplified flow meter frequency output, enabling remote equipment to calculate flow rates and volume.

The NuFlo TMP-100 Turbine Meter Pulse Divider Circuit is a versatile electronic instrument designed for use with a NuFlo turbine flowmeter. It generates a pulse output in various forms, including dry contacts from a two-pole relay, single-pole relay, or an opto-isolated open collector transistor output. With a divisor capability of 1 to 524,287, it allows for scaling the pulse outputs to most standard units of measurement.

Additionally, the TMP-100 can drive an LCD counter and offers user-selectable negative- or positive-going logic level (0-5 VDC) pulse output, as well as logic level turbine meter frequency output. An option header also enables the mounting of optional circuits such as the TMR-100, opto-isolated, and loop-powered 4-20mA rate output circuit board above the TMP-100.

Preamplifiers

Some potential challenges associated with turbine flow meters is that the standard output is a low-voltage centered AC sine wave, often with very low current flow. In situations where there's electromagnetic noise or grounding issues from nearby electrical equipment, small pulses on the interconnecting wires can be misinterpreted as flow pulses by the totalizer.

To address this, an amplifier (preamp) mounted on or near the turbine flow meter can increase the magnitude of legitimate pulses, allowing the pulse receiving device to differentiate them from background noise. Additionally, it's important that all remote signal cables are shielded to minimize the impact of external interference.
